If there’s one key takeaway from fashion month so far, it’s that many designers have reigned in their outré instincts to offer something pared-back and pragmatic. So you might imagine that the celebrities on the front row would be following suit – but not Chloë Sevigny. Just when you thought Paris Fashion Week was at risk of getting a little staid, the actor arrived at the Loewe autumn/winter 2023 show on Friday morning in exactly the kind of playful, unexpected look that has made her an enduring fashion icon.
Arriving to take her seat on the front row next to her friend and collaborator Luca Guadagnino – and briefly pausing to take a photo with Naomi Campbell – Sevigny wore a mottled faux fur coat in various shades of iced coffee brown, along with a pair of cream leather boots. In a very Jonathan Anderson trompe l’oeil twist, the boots’ uppers were designed to appear like the waistband of a pair of trousers. (What exactly one would be getting up to with your trousers hanging around your thighs, however, is something possibly best left to Anderson’s reliably cheeky imagination.) For a final touch of fashion-forward pizzazz, Sevigny wore a pair of the brand’s inflatable blue cat-eye sunglasses, while a quilted leather Goya bag in black swung from her arm.
