The Super Bowl might not scream Fashion with a capital F, but the 2024 match proved that even when set against the backdrop of The Biggest Game really great outfits have the potential to breakout beyond the noise of the actual run of play.
It was always going to be Taylor Swift’s night, with all eyes on what she would wear to support her beau Travis Kelce. The answer? A winning all-black ensemble that spoke of her familiar play with sparkle (AREA jeans with embellished thigh-placed tears) and a sprinkling of sartorial Easter eggs encouraging her fans to zoom in for further detail. Think a necklace that said ‘out’ with 1989 and ‘in’ with 87, Kelce’s jersey number.
Joining Swift in her box was her long-time BFF Blake Lively who wore a Kansas City Chiefs’ (or, depending how you look at it, Wrexham AFC) red tracksuit by Adidas and Balenciaga for an elevated take on sports stadium dressing. The actor added lashings of Tiffany & Co. jewellery to place the stress on the luxe element of sports-luxe.

Another BFF duo who made the most of the Super Bowl spotlight to share a fresh fashion message was Wicked costars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. With the movie’s much-anticipated trailer debuting during the ad break, the pair leant into their respective characters with custom Louis Vuitton embellished football jerseys. Not for the feint of fashion heart, these high-shine tops were half pink, half green with the actors’ character names emblazoned on the back. It’s giving high school theatre girlies opting to once engage in varsity pursuits.
Elsewhere in the Sin City stadium, Hailey and Justin Bieber pledged their allegiance to Parisian fashion. Hailey, who also debuted fresh brunette locks, wore a fabulous faux-fur leopard print coat by Saint Laurent, while Justin wore a shirt decorated in Marine Serre’s signature moon print. Together, their fashion mood was low-key high-fashion, keeping it cosy and well labelled.
Following the style agenda she set at last week’s Grammys, Beyoncé once again donned a cowboy hat to sit with her husband and family to watch the game. This time, however, she offered us a context by announcing a country music album that very night. Something tells us that this custom Dolce & Gabbana look is not the last one to complete with matching Western-inspired chapeau.
Joining Bey in wearing custom Dolce & Gabbana was the half-time performer Usher and his on-stage guest Alicia Keys. The pair both donned typically sparkly pieces by the Italian house to perform together, with Usher also wearing pieces by Off-White for the stellar mid-game show.
Ah, the game! It’s about time we pivot from the A-list to talk about the looks worn by those that everyone had come to see actually play. Those more familiar with British footballers offloading coaches in matching tailoring (save for a jaunty Louis Vuitton wash bag) will find the arrivals of these US football players a little different as many used the opportunity to make it a real fashion parade.
Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce arrived in an embellished custom Amiri set, complete with a matching duffle bag and blackout shades. It was a jazzy look that felt suitably Swift-aligned, matching neatly with the sorts of pieces she wears for her big moments on the Eras tour.
Kelce’s comrades and competitors ensured that the fashion remained as top-tier as the play by choosing between them full-looks by Prada, Bottega Veneta and Louis Vuitton.
On the night of The Super Bowl there were, of course, winners and losers, as is the nature of the sporting game, but the real winner in our eyes? Fashion, of course.
